Mijn middelste 'Huis' - My center 'House'

Met de bouw van de huisjes ben ik bijna op de helft, én bij het middenblok aangekomen. Dit is bij mij geen huis geworden, maar een klein kerkje, de Hasseltse Kapel in Tilburg. In dit kapelletje zijn we 18 jaar geleden getrouwd, op 17 Juni, vandaar dat dit mijn 'huisje' wordt van die dag.

With the construction of the houses I'm almost halfway, and arrived at the center block. In my quilt this  became a small church, the Hasselt Chapel in Tilburg. In this chapel we are married 18 years ago, on June 17, that's why this is my 'house' of that day.

De klok in de toren heb ik geborduurd met één draadje DMC... en de klok staat op 19.00 uur, het tijdstip dat we getrouwd zijn!

En ik ontdekte tijdens het tekenen dat er twee harten zijn ingemetseld in de stenen muur links en rechts van de deur, nooit eerder gezien! Daarom naaide in twee hartjes-knopen op mijn applicatie.

And while drawing I discovered that two hearts are immured in the stone wall to the left and right of the door, never seen it before! Therefor I sewed two heart buttons on my application.

Het appliceren van het middenblok was een welkome afwisseling voor het maken van de vele, vele huisjes. Ik merk dat het velen van jullie ook zwaar begint te vallen, en dat sommigen van jullie afhaken. Nogmaals, het is géén verplichting, maar geheel vrijblijvend, dus voel jullie vooral niet schuldig, vrijheid, blijheid!

Dus deze maand wat minder foto's dan voorheen... hier komen ze!

The application of the center block was a welcome change to making many, many houses. I noticed that it's getting harder and harder to keep up, and that some of you quit. Again, don't feel guilty about it, it's not an obligation, it should be fun.

So this month a bit less pictures... here they come!

Over twee weken starten hier de schoolvakanties, dus dan zal het quilten op een iets lager pitje komen te staan. Ik ben dus nu al flink vooruit aan het 'bouwen', en ben nu al klaar tot eind Juni.

Kan ik straks met een gerust hart met bouwvak vakantie!

Within two weeks school holidays start over here, so I won't have the mood to quilt much. So I'm 'building' ahead right now, and have finished all my houses until the end of June.

So I can go on construction industry holiday!

Op 23 April 2012 is de Nederlandse regering gevallen. We zagen dit al aankomen, en ik beloofde iedereen, mócht het gebeuren, dan gaat mijn huisje van die dag op z'n kop in de quilt.

On 23 April 2012, the Dutch government cases. We saw this coming, and I promised everyone, should it happen, my house of that day would go upside down in the quilt.

En hier zien jullie voor het eerst in deze quilt het leuke katje voor de raam zitten. Ik heb besloten op elke verjaardag van een gezinslid een katje voor de raam te zetten.

And here you see for the first time in my quilt the little cat in the window. I decided to put this cat in the window on each birthday in our family.

Zo zien mijn huisjes er tot nu toe uit, 8 rijen aan elkaar. Nog één rij en dan ben ik bij het middenstuk. Ik heb al in mijn hoofd zitten wat ik daarvan ga maken, het kleine kapelletje waar we 18 jaar geleden getrouwd zijn.

This is how my little houses look right now, 8 rows stitched together. One more row to go and than comes the middle part. It's already in my head what I'm going to make of that, the little chapel where we've married 18 years ago.

This is Fina from Barcelona. Here I send you my last hand-made houses. The last one, which I attached you in a single picture, it's the one for 23rd April and it is to celebrate a special tradition we do here in Catalonia. On 23rd April, thanks to a legend about a knight, a dragon and a princess, boys give roses to girls and girls give books to boys and all the streets in Catalonia are full or roses and books. It's a really nice day and I thought it would be nice to make a special house for the quilt.

Na 50 huisjes ben ik al gestopt met bouwen en heb van die 50 huisjes een kussen voor op de bank gemaakt. In de bijlage stuur ik je twee foto's mee omdat ik het leuk vind je te laten zien wat je zo allemaal hebt losgemaakt in quiltend/bloggend Nederland (en ver daarbuiten).

Aan de ene kant blauwe en aan de andere kant rode huisjes. Ik vond het een erg leuk project om aan te werken, ook al werd een hele quilt me te groot!

After 50 houses I've stopped building and made from these houses a pillow for my couch. It's nice to see how many quilters all over the world are making.

On one side red and on the other blue houses. It was a great project to work on, even the whole quilt was too big for me to make!

Huisjes, huisjes - Houses, Houses

Huisjes, huisjes, soms wordt het me wat teveel... maar altijd pak ik het project weer op. Deze week werd mijn 'rol' weer wat groter toen ik de zesde rij (van 17 huisjes) eraan naaide. Ik ben al over de 100!

Houses, houses, sometimes it gets too much for me... but as always I'm picking up this project again. This week my 'roll' became a bit bigger when I sewed the sixed row (of 17 houses) on it. I'm over 100 now!

Wow, dit ziet er fantastisch uit! Susi uit Duitsland is bijna klaar met haar quilt. Ze maakte niet alle 366 huisjes maar maakte haar quilt groter door er een mooie rand aan te zetten.

Geen update van mijn huisjes, ik heb de vijfde rij klaar maar die moet ik nog aan elkaar zetten. Ook ben ik natuurlijk met en aantal andere quilts bezig, waaronder mijn 'Trick or Treat' mandjesquilt. Het doorquilten met de hand schiet aardig op, ik heb alle rechte diagonale lijnen tussen de blokken klaar, en heb nu alvast de afwerkbies rondom de quilt genaaid. Het is nu net alsof de quilt klaar is, nu 'hoef' ik alleen nog rondom elk mandje te quilten...

No updat from my houses, I've finished the fifth row, but still have to put it together. I'm also working on a few other quilts, including my 'Trick or Treat' basket quilt. The handquilting goes very well, I've finished quilting the straight diagonal lines between the blocks, and sewed the binding around the quilt. It lookes like it's finished already, but I 'only' need to quilt around every basket...
