Ik ben weer helemaal bij met mijn huisjes, gisteren op de Bee bij Christel hard doorgewerkt. En we zijn al in Maart! Dat houdt in dat ik nu écht klaar ben met alle stukjes aftekenen en knippen. He, he, kan ik eindelijk weer eens aandacht geven aan mijn andere projecten. Niet dat ik stilzit, maar ik heb gewoon al twee maanden niet geblogd op mijn andere blog, erg he?

I'm right on track building my little houses, yesterday at the Bee at Christel's home I've worked very hard. And it's March already! That means I'm finished with drawing and cutting all my pieces. Finaly I can give a bit more attention to my other projects. It's not that I haven't done anything else than houses, but I haven't blogged about it at my other blog for over two months, it's a shame isn't it?

Soms krijg ik een hele leuk mail van één van jullie, met daarbij een aantal leuke foto's. Deze wil ik jullie niet onthouden, helemaal uit Australië!

Sometimes I get a realy nice e-mail from some of you, together with some nice pictures. This one I wish to show you, all the way from Australia!

I am another Australian joining you in ‘Building Houses from Scraps’. Since purchasing the pattern from you on February 8^th, I have become addicted to making these little houses from my collection of scraps. It is so good to finally have a reason for keeping all those little bits of fabric that were of little practical use but too treasured to throw out!

I have nearly caught up with my January blocks as I have been making at least 2 blocks a day since I began. I have adapted your pattern slightly so that I can rotary cut it and piece it by machine. My blocks are slightly smaller and finish at 2 7/8” as I am using the imperial measurement system and this size keeps my house block in proportion. Most quilting in Australia is done using the imperial system although the metric system is in general daily use. We buy our fabric by the metre but cut it using inches!

I am sending you some photos of my progress so far. I am also posting photos on flickr. My flickr name is ‘Neverhaveenuffabric’. Actually, it is more a case of ‘Toomuchfabric’ but I am trying hard to rectify that!

365 reasons to buy chocolate! 2 months will fit in one Ferrero Rocher box. As I only have 3 empty boxes, I have to eat another 3 boxes full to have enough to store all my houses! (Any excuse to eat chocolate is welcome!)

ik had het al voorspeld... - I've told you so...

... geen enkel huis gebouwd afgelopen week. Niet dat dat erg is, ik heb n.l. genoten van een heerlijke week voorjaarsvakantie thuis met af en toe een uitstapje. Dus nu loop ik zeven dagen achter op schema, maar dat halen we wel weer in!

... didn't build a house for a week. But that doesn't matter, I've enjoyed a wonderful week's spring holiday at home with some occasional outing. So now I'm seven days behind schedule, but will be back on schedule soon!

Want ik ben bijna klaar met het uitknippen van alle 'onderdelen' van mijn huisjes (voor het hele jaar), dus hoef ik vanaf eind deze maand alleen nog maar stukjes voor een nieuw huisje te combineren en kan het dan meteen in elkaar zetten.

I'm almost finished cutting all 'parts' of my little houses (for the whole year), so from the end of this month I only have to combine pieces for a new house and sew it together.

Alle stukjes die ik al eens gebruikt heb zitten in dit blik, het begint al aardig vol te worden, hopelijk past er alles in!

All the pieces that I've already used up are in this tin, it starts to be pretty full, hopefully everything will fit in!

En dit zijn mijn huisjes tot nu toe, drie rijen van 17 huisjes breed, aan elkaar gezet en opgerold. Ik vind de achterkant soms nog interessanter dan de voorkant, met al die naadjes.

And these are my little houses so far, three rows of 17 houses, sewn together and rolled up. Sometimes I like the backside even more than the front, with all those seems.

Groei op de bouwplaats - Growth on the building site

Kijk toch eens, er wordt nog steeds hard gebouwd door jullie. We zijn nu anderhalve maand onderweg en de meeste van jullie vinden het nog steeds leuk! Complimenten, hoor. En jullie onthouden toch wel, het maakt niet uit hóeveel huisjes jullie maken, als jullie er maar lol in hebben:)

In de laatste twee weken zijn er nóg meer deelnemers bijgekomen, dat brengt het officiële aantal op meer dan 1600! Opvallend veel aanmeldingen kwamen uit de USA en Australië. Dat kwam vanwege dit leuke berichtje (klik) op het blog van Temecula Quilt Co. waarin Sheryl vertelde over ons huisjes project.

Sheryl hartelijk bedankt voor deze publiciteit om zo nóg meer quiltsters enthousiast te krijgen om mee te doen!

Look at this, the 'building' is still going strong. We're one month and a half on the way and most of you are still having fun making little houses! A BIG compliment to you all. And please don't forget, it doesn't matter how mány houses you built, as long as you enjoy it:)

In the last two weeks many more quilters decided to join, that brings the official number on more than 1600! Many new participants come from the USA and Australia. That's because of this nice post (click) on the blog of Temecula Quilt Co. where Sheryl tells about our house project.

Het is ook grappig om te zien dat er veel verschil in 'bouwstijl' zit. De meeste quiltsters hier in Nederland 'bouwen' met de hand (met malletjes), en de meeste quiltsters in the USA 'bouwen' met de naaimachine (d.m.v. paper piecing), ofschoon ik ook wel enkele handquiltsters heb ontdekt! Gelukkig kan iedereen met het patroon goed uit de voeten omdat het gewoon lekker eenvoudig is. En het maakt niet uit hoe je je huisjes maakt, als je er maar lol in hebt.

Ik krijg vaak vragen over de mail of ik een uitleg kan geven hoe ik mijn huisjes bouw, en hoe ik mijn malletjes maak. Nou dat is heel eenvoudig. Ik knip mijn malletjes uit dunne paternoplaat, teken eerst per huis-onderdeel (met een watervaste stift) de buitenlijn (kniplijn) en de binnenlijn (naailijn) erop. Knip het malletje uit op de buitenlijn en binnenlijn, en voila, het malletje is klaar.

Het kost wat oefening en je moet netjes kunnen knippen, maar het is echt niet moeilijk. Zelfs mijn dochter Robin kan het, en kwam zo op het idee om als bijverdienste malletjes te gaan knippen. Ze is nét 16 jaar en op zoek naar een leuk bijbaantje, maar die liggen niet voor het oprapen. Dus heeft ze een Etsy winkeltje (klik) geopend waar ze armbandjes die ze zelf maakt verkoopt, én complete setjes van 11 malletjes, voor het 7,5 cm huisje van de Building Houses from Scraps quilt (voor hand quilten).

It's also funny to see your many types of 'building styles'. Most of the quilters over here (in The Netherlands) are quilting by hand (using templates), and most quilters in the USA are building their houses by machine (by paper piecing), although I've seen some handquilters in the US too! Lucky enough everyone can handle the pattern because it's very easy. And it doesn't matter how you make your houses, whenever you having fun.

I'm sometimes getting questions by mail about how I make my little houses, and how I make my templates. Well, that's easy. I cut my templates out of template plastic, first I draw per house 'part' (with a waterproof fineliner) the outline (cutting line) and the inner line (sew line) on it. Then I cut them out at the outline and the inner line, and voila, your template is ready.

It takes some practice and you have to cut precisely, but it's not difficult. Even my daughter Robin can do it, and came up with the idea to cut templates as extra income. She's just turned 16 and is looking for weekend job (next to her study), but can't find a nice one. So she has opened a Etsy shop (click) where she sells small stuff she makes ánd complete sets of 11 templates for making the 3 inch Building Houses from Scraps quilt (by hand quilting).

De Carnavalsvakantie begint dit weekend, dus ik denk niet dat er veel gebouwd gaat worden hier... vieren jullie ook carnaval?

Mijn DH komt oorspronkelijk uit Limburg, uit Beek, vlak bij Maastricht, dus Carnaval zit in zijn génen. Vorig jaar was ik een paar dagen getrouwd met Elvis...

Nee, ik hou het altijd eenvoudig en ga graag onherkenbaar over straat...

Carnaval holiday is starting next weekend, so I don't think I will be building a lot... do you also celebrate carnaval? My DH comes from the Limburg, the most southern part of Holland, near Maastricht, and he LOVES it.

Last year I was married to Elvis for a few days...

No, I keep it simple and enjoy going unrecognizable on the street...

Druk, druk... - Busy, busy...

...met bouwen en organiseren. Er komen op het moment een heleboel leuke verzoeken bij me binnen om het land (en buitenland) in te trekken om te vertellen over de huisjes. Ik probeer op veel verzoeken in te gaan, maar ja, het moet voor mij natuurlijk ook allemaal te regelen zijn. Als eerste ben ik natuurlijk moeder en echtgenote, daarnaast heb ik samen met mijn partner een grafisch ontwerp bureau, dus het is soms passen en meten.
Een aantal nieuwtjes mag ik nog niet aan jullie verklappen, omdat ze nog in de 'ontwikkelingsfase' zijn, maar een aantal andere wel.

Mieke, regioleidster van het Quilters Gilde Noord-Brabant Oost, vertelde me dat ze tijdens de komende regiodagen in Oisterwijk, op woensdag 14 en donderdag 15 Maart, aandacht willen besteden aan de huisjesrage. Dat is natuurlijk geweldig leuk nieuws, en ik zal dus zeker van de partij zijn (op beide dagen).
Ik mag zelfs eventjes het podium op (help) om een kleine uitleg te geven over het huisjes project om zo nóg meer mensen enthousiast te krijgen om ook mee te doen.
Als jullie ook zin hebben om te komen geef je dan op via het inschrijf formulier van het Quilters Gilde (klik). Brengen jullie dan wél allemaal jullie huisjes mee? Het lijkt me leuk om even met jullie te kletsen en tips en trucs uit te wisselen! Misschien kunnen we al onze huisjes aan elkaar leggen en een heel dorp bouwen, zal me dat een leuke foto worden!

Ook ga ik naar het buitenland! Naar België, waar Kristel van Atelier Salgarollo me gevraagd heeft om naar haar Quilt Café te komen, voor een show & tell van al mijn quilt(je)s.
Op die dag wordt er gezellig samen gequilt en gekletst, onder het genot van een lekker stuk taart, koffie/thee en een lunch, is er een show & tell voor iedereen die haar/zijn werk wil laten zien, en staat Kristel er natuurlijk met haar winkel.
Dus hebben jullie zin om eens de échte Belgische gastvrijheid te proeven, kom dan naar het Quilt Café in Westerlo (België) op zaterdag 12 Mei van 10.00-16.00 uur. Inschrijven kan bij Kristel Salgarollo via haar e-mail: kristel.salgarollo@telenet.be. Natuurlijk breng ik (en ook jullie?) mijn huisjes mee!

... with building and organising. Currently there are a lot of nice requests in my mailbox, from people asking me to come and meet you to tell about the little houses. I'm trying to honor all requests, but of course it has to be controllable for me. First of all I'm a mother and wife, besides that I own a graphic design company together with my partner, so sometimes it's 'fitting and measuring'.
Some of the requests I can not reveal to you, because it's still in the 'development stage, but some others I can.

Mieke, region leader of the Dutch Quilt Guild North-Brabant East, told me that they would like to pay attention to the Building Houses from Scraps project on their Regional Days on wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 March. That's great news, so of course I will be there (both days).
I even may climb up the stage (help) to give a little presentation about the project, to try to get even móre quilters enthousiastic to join.
If you like to come too, please go to the website of the Dutch Quilt Guild (click) and fill in the form. And if you come, please take with you all your little houses. I hope to meet you there so we can have a chat. Maybe we can arrange to put all our houses together to build a whole village, wouldn't that give a great picture?

I'm also going abroad! To Belgium, where Kristel from Atelier Salgarollo has asked me for a show & tell of all my quilts at her Quilt Café.
On that day we can quilt and chat together, while eating pie, drinking coffee/tea, having lunch and watching a show & tell (please bring your own quilts to show, too). Of course Kristel is there with her shop, too.

Genoeg gekletst, even nog wat foto's van jullie huisjes die ik kreeg via de mail. Het zijn er al niet zoveel meer als in het begin, ha, ha, zijn jullie toch niet met vorstverlet? Of staan jullie allemaal op de schaats? Het geeft niet, hoor, iedereen bouwt in haar* eigen tempo, het maakt niet uit hoeveel huisjes we bouwen en hoelang!

* ik kan dus echt zeggen 'haar' want er heeft zich geen enkele man gemeld om mee te doen met dit project...

Enough chatting, here are this week's pictures of your houses, sent to me by mail. It aren't thát much pictures as in the beginning, ha, ha, are you in a 'frost delay'? (over here in Holland it's freezing cold, so the building people who have to work outside are in 'frost delay', they don't have to go to work). Or are you all ice skating outside?

It doesn't matter, everyone is building in her* own tempo, it doesn't matter how many houses and how long we go on!

* I realy can say 'her' because there isn't just one man registrated who joins this building project...

Ons Avontuur - Our Adventure

Gisterenochtend al vroeg (09.00 uur) vertrokken met onze HexaBee naar de Patchwork en Quiltdagen in Vijfhuizen. Merian was onze chauffeuse, en dat was maar goed ook, want ik was met zo'n slechte weersvoorspelling niet vertrokken... De voorspelling was flinke sneeuwval, die trok over het gehele land van noordoost naar zuidwest.
Maar op de heenweg ging alles goed, hebben we eigenlijk nog maar amper sneeuw gezien, en we kwamen netjes op tijd aan in Vijfhuizen.

Yesterday morning we left early (09.00h) with our HexaBee to the Patchwork and Quiltdays in Vijfhuizen. Merian was our chaufeur, and that was a good thing, because I shouldn't have left because of the bad weather forecast... The forecast was heavy snow, beginning northt-east Holland going south-west.
But on our way to Vijfhuizen everything went great, we didn't see any snow, and we arrived right on time.

Heel veel winkeliers sprongen in op de huisjesrage, en bij heel veel kraampjes zagen we leuke scrappakketjes. Hele mooie én goedkope (ja, daar letten wij natuurlijk ook op) pakketjes zijn te koop bij 't Quilterspalet, daar liggen pakketjes op kleur van 50 lapjes 11x11 cm voor €5,00! Ik heb wel drie keer gevraagd of die prijs écht klopt.

A lot of shops were also inspired by our house building mania, and here and there we saw scrapbags. Very nice ánd cheap (yes, we also pay attention to that) packages are for sale at 't Quilterspalet, they sell packages of 50 scraps 4.5 x 4.5 inch for only €5,00! I've asked about three times if they've put the right price on the packages, but the price is right.

Ook veel winkeliers zijn zelf met de huisjes bezig, deze zagen we bij de Lapjesgaard, met natuurlijk ook pakketjes erbij!
There are also many shop owners making their own houses, this ones we saw at De Lapjesgaard, also with some scrapbags!

En ik ben ook nog een aantal van jullie tegengekomen, en deze mevrouw was zó enthousiast, die móest gewoon op de foto. In de achtergrond zien jullie Dorien, die helpt in de stand van Dorry, en rechts zien jullie een klein stukje van Supergoof's vingerhoedjes quilt.

I've also met a few of you, and this lady was very enthousiastic, I just hád to take a picture of her. In the background you see Dorien, she's helping Dorry in her boot, and at the right you can see Supergoof's thimble quilt.

Ze bewaart haar huisjes in een fotoboekje, ook handig! En links zien jullie het huis waar Nel Veerkamp woonde, ha, ha.

Ook bekeken we de tentoonstelling, en dit vond ik het allermooiste quiltje van de tentoonstelling, het is van Wietske Kluck en is heel klein, de blokjes zijn 0.5 x 0.5 inch!

We also visit the quilt exhibition, and this little quilt I'd liked the most, it's made by Wietske Kluck and it's véry tiny, the blocks are only 0.5 x 0.5 inch!

Ondertussen sneeuwde het buiten flink, dus besloten we niet langer te blijven en naar huis te gaan. Rond 15.00 uur stapten we naar buiten en zagen dit.

In the meanwhile it was snowing and snowing, so we decide not to stay longer and go home. Around 15.00h we went outside and saw this.

Maar in de auto was het warm en gezellig. Ik had een 'overlevingspakket' meegenomen met slaapzak, thermosfles met thee, zak Croky chips (saté smaak, de favoriet van Anske), chocolade hazelnoten, dus we kwamen niet om van de honger.

Onderweg hebben we nog Merian's DH opgepikt op het station van Utrecht, want die stond vast omdat er geen enkele trein vertrok van het station, hij had geluk, belde nét op tijd.

Om 20.00 uur waren we thuis, na een rit van bijna vijf uur. Moe en voldaan, maar we hebben een keigezellige dag gehad! Merian nogmaals bedankt dat je ons veilig thuis hebt gebracht.

En mensen, laat jullie niet weerhouden door het weer om naar Vijfhuizen te gaan, het is écht de moeite waard!

But in the car it was warm and cozy. I've took a 'survival package' with me, with a sleeping bag, thermos tea, big bag of Croky chips (saté taste, Anske's favorite), chocolate hazelnuts, so we didn't had any hunger.

Halfway home we picked up Merian's DH at the trainstation in Utecht, he's got stuck because there wasn't any train leaving the station. He was lucky to call Merian right on time!

We arrived home at 20.00h, after a five hours drive. Tired and satisfied, but we have had a great day! Merian thank you again for bringing us home safely.

And people, don't keep yourself visiting Vijfhuizen because of the bad weather, it's really worth visiting!

Hier ben ik weer - Here I am again

Anderhalve week flink ziek geweest na het trekken van een ontstoken kies... ik wist niet dat je zo'n pijn kon hebben van zo'n stomme kies! Maar goed, nu gaat het wel weer, alleen is er een hoop werk in te halen. Ik had aardig wat vooruit gewerkt met de huisjes, maar liep op een gegeven moment gewoon áchter. Dus ondanks de vorst wordt er hier gewoon door gebouwd!

Ten days being very ill after pulling an infected tooth... I didn't know you could have so much pain from one stupid tooth! Anyway, now I'm OK again, only have a lot of work to catch up. I had worked quit a bit ahead making my houses, but was way ahead during last week's trouble. So dispite the very cold freezing weather over here in Holland, the building is going on!

Ik bouw mijn huisjes quilt op in lange rijen, van linkboven naar rechtsonder. Mijn quilt is tot dusver niet echt interessant om te laten zien, maar ik heb nu twee rijen klaar. Vanavond ga ik de tweede rij aan de eerste zetten, ik loop dan één dag vooruit, maar dat komt omdat we morgen naar de Quilt- en Patchworkdagen in Vijfhuizen gaan, dus morgen kan ik geen huisje maken.

Ook kreeg ik weer een aantal leuke foto's van huisjes via de mail, jullie zien ze hieronder.

I'm building up my house quilt from left top to right down. So far my quilt is not very interesting, I've just finished my second row. This evening I'll sew the second row at the first. I'm one house ahead, because tomorrow I'm going to visit The Quilt- and Patchworkdays in Vijfhuizen, so I can't sew a house tomorrow.

I also received a lot of house pictures by mail, I'll show them to you.

Ria vond de huisjes van 7,5 cm tóch te klein om te patchen, dus besloot ze opnieuw te beginnen in een maatje groter. Van haar kleine huisjes maakte ze dit leuke stoel kussentje!

Omdat er nog steeds erg veel mensen vragen om het patroon heb ik besloten opnieuw een uitgebreid patroon te maken, incl. tekeningen van de malletjes en paperpiece versie. Het patroon is te koop in mijn Etsy shop, klik op het huisje rechtsboven.

Het patroon is dus NIET meer gratis te krijgen, ondanks smeekbeden, smoesjes, boos worden, nóg bozer worden en zelfs erger.

Trouwens Hanneke van Quiltatelier Vlijtig Liesje heeft een handig werkplankje/strijkmatje gemaakt, speciaal voor de huisjes, misschien een idee?

Misschien dat ik jullie morgen zie in Vijfhuizen, als het goed is hangen mijn kleine quiltjes in de stand van Atelier Quiltgebeuren, patroontjes zijn daar te verkrijgen. Bij Quilt it & Dotty zijn de patroontjes van het 'kleine huisjes' quiltje en de 'Building Houses from Scraps' quilt te koop.

...Volgers!!!!En nu de inschrijving gestopt is staan er 1451 op de deelnemerslijst, goed he, van jullie.
Vandaag heb ik de PDF patronen van het blog gehaald, en ik heb ze daarna ook écht verwijderd van mijn computer. Anders weet ik van mezelf dat ik ze tóch nog doorstuur als iemand het heel zielig vraagt. Ik kan nu eenmaal moeilijk nee zeggen, dus met deze actie heb ik dat probleem verholpen :)

Op de plek links in de balk staan nu al mijn huisjes (op datum) die ik tot nu toe gemaakt heb. Soms met een tekstje erbij, als het om een speciale dag gaat, een leuk stofje of apart detail (klik maar eens op het huisje van 15 Januari!!!). Ik ga straks in de balk ook een lijst opnemen van speciale evenementen rondom de huisjes die door jullie georganiseerd worden. Zo blijft iedereen goed op de hoogte.
Trouwens wisten jullie dat er een nieuwe online quiltwinkel bij is gekomen in Nederland? Jullie kunnen 'm vinden op www.thequilthouse.nl ,Titia heeft ook leuke scrappakketjes gemaakt die ze als speciale actie zonder verzendkosten opstuurt.

... Followers! And now the registration period has expired there are 1451 official joiners at the list, great isn't it? Today I removed the PDF pattern files from the blog, and I removed them from my computer too. Otherwise I know that I still will send them to people who ask it. It's hard to say no for me, so this way I've solved that problem :)

Now all my little house blocks are at the left side of this blog. Sometimes I put a text with it, when it's a special day, or when I used a special fabric or so. And sometimes you can click on a block too (just click on the little house of 15 January!!!). Later I will add a list of all houses-events organised by you. This way everyone will be informed.

En mijn workshop 'handige huisjes malletjes maken) ging ook goed, hi, hi, het was mijn eerste keer. En nee, helaas voor jullie komt er geen YouTube filmpje van.

I had a very nice day last saturday at the blogger day in Brielle. There were a lot of ladies to show me their houses, it was nice meeting you all. And my workshop 'How to make these handy house templates' went well, it was my first time, hi, hi. And no, there will be no YouTube tutorial of it, sorry, it's not my kind of thing.

De afgelopen week... - Last week...

... is er weer hard gewerkt door jullie. Ik ben echt verbaasd over wat ik allemaal zie op jullie blogs!
Ook in onze HexaBee (klik) is nu iedereen bezig met de huisjes, vorige week donderdag waren we allemaal hard aan het bouwen. Christel (klik) en Anske maken hun huisjes op de Engelse manier, dus ze knippen de papieren patroondeeltjes eerst uit het patroon, 'bekleden' die met stof, en naaien ze dan in elkaar. Kijk maar eens op de foto, de groen/rood/creme huisjes zijn van Anske (bovenste rij) en de huisjes in Japanse stoffen zijn van Christel (rechtsonder).
Merian patched net als ik de huisjes met de hand in elkaar. Merian maakt haar huisjes in vaste kleuren, lichtblauw, lichtgroen, bruin, beige en roze. Ze gaat ze volgens een vast kleurpatroon in elkaar zetten, wil je er meer over lezen kijk dan op haar blog (klik). Mijn huisjes zijn natuurlijk duidelijk te herkennen op de foto, ik maakte er vier tijdens de bee bijeenkomst!
En het kleine huisje op de voorgrond is van Dorien (klik). Ze is als laatste eindelijk ook over de streep en gaat een klein huisjes poppenquiltje maken van jaren '30 stofjes.

In our HexaBee (klick) everyone is working on their houses too, last thursday it looked like a building site at the table. Christel (klik) and Anske are making their houses the English way, so they cut all paper templates out of the pattern, 'dress' them with fabric, and sew them together. Look at the first picture, the green/red/creme houses are Anske's (top row), and the houses from Japanese fabrics are Christel's (right down).
Merian is patching her houses by hand, just like me. She makes them in the colours light blue, light green, brown, beige and light pink. She's going to sew them together in a special colour pattern, if you wish to read moer about it just take a look at her blog (klik). Ofcourse you can recognise my little houses, I made four of them during our Bee meeting!
And the little house in front is Dorien's (klik). Finaly we've managed to get her sewing houses too, she's going to make a little doll quilt of it in Aunt Grace fabrics.

Ik moet eerlijk bekennen dat ik niet zoveel meer gebouwd heb deze week, gelukkig liep ik al wat vooruit en heb ik nu 14 huisjes klaar, genoeg tot na het weekend.

I have to confess I didn't build a lot these week, lucky that I made some extra houses before, so now I have finished 14, enough until Sunday.

Want tot dan heb ik gewoon geen tijd :) Ben alles aan het klaar maken voor a.s. zaterdag, voor de Bloggerdag bij 'Het quiltgebeuren' in Brielle. Ik ben er de hele dag (10.00-16.00) en breng mijn kleine huisjesquiltje en al mijn andere kleine quiltjes, patchwork hoedjes en frutsels mee, zodat jullie die ook eens in het echt kunnen zien.

Because until than I just don't have time:) I'm preparing everything for the Blogger-day at 'het Quiltgebeuren' in Brielle. I'm there the whole day (10.00-16.00h) and bring my little house quilt with me, together with all my other small quilts, patchwork hats and other small stuff.

Ook geef ik een mini workshopje, waarin ik uitleg hoe ik toch van die handige malletjes maak, hoe je daarmee heel gemakkelijk en snel de stof aftekent, en in welke volgorde je vervolgens je huisje dan in elkaar kunt zetten. Kortom, ik leer jullie mijn methode (want daar krijg ik heel veel vragen over via de mail, en dit is moeilijk uit te leggen in alleen woorden). Wil je ook meedoen, geef je dan op bij Janine, en misschien tot ziens! Breng als je meedoet een kleine schaartje met puntig uiteinde (geen stofschaar), en een dunne watervaste fineliner, en je quiltspulletjes mee. Voor de rest van het materiaal wordt gezorgd.

I'm also giving a mini workshop, teaching you how I make those handy templates, how you can use them to draw easily the lines at the fabric, and in which order you can patch your little houses together. So I'm teaching you my way of quilting (because I get many questions about this by mail, and it's difficult to explain in only words). If you wish to join, please send a message to Janine, see you on Saturday! When you join please bring a small 'pointy' scissors (no fabric scissors), a waterproof fineliner and your quilting materials with you. The rest of all materials are included.

Nieuws vanaf de bouwplaats - News from the building site

Gaan jullie er maar eens goed voor zitten, thermoskan met koffie en broodtrommel bij de hand, want dit wordt een lang berichtje met allerlei leuke nieuwtjes.

Als eerste laat ik jullie de foto's zien die ik via de mail heb gekregen. Soms krijg ik hele fotoreportages opgestuurd, maar helaas dames, ik plaats maar één foto (de leukste) per deelneemster per keer.

Er wordt hard gebouwd over heel de wereld, en de meeste quiltsters maken hun huisjes van scraps. Ook wordt er flink 'vooruit' gewerkt, jullie enthousiasme is niet te stuiten!

So, sit down for a while, take your thermos with coffee and your lunchbox, because this is a long post with a lot of news.

First I want to show you all nice pictures I've received by mail. Sometimes people sent me a whole photoshoot of their houses, but sorry ladies, I only can show one picture per person each time.

The building goes fast everywhere around the world, and most of you build your houses of scraps. Some are way 'ahead' building their houses, you can't stop your enthousiasm!

Ook ik ben natuurlijk hard aan het bouwen, maar ik ben vooral nog steeds aan het voorbereiden. Ik heb een heel systeem bedacht en ben nu ongeveer op de helft met het aftekenen en knippen van alle 365 kleine huisjes. Zo heb ik straks een heel bouwpakket klaar, en hoef ik maar steeds wat stukjes te pakken en te combineren. Zo hoop ik de rest van het jaar 'bij te blijven' terwijl ik tóch aan andere projecten werk.

Ofcourse I'm also busy building, but most of all I'm busy prepairing. I've planned a system and I'm halfway drawing and cutting my 365 small houses. I'm making my own 'building kit', so I just have to take some pieces and combine them. This way I hope to keep up with you for the rest of the year, while I also can work on my other projects.

Dit zijn mijn huisjes, zoals jullie zien zijn ze bijna gelijk aan mijn kleine quiltje. Ik heb alleen een andere stof voor de tussenbiesjes moeten kiezen.
These are my small houses, they're almost simular to my small quilt. But I had to find other fabric for my sashings.

Er zijn in het land al diverse huisjes-clubjes en Bee's gevormd, kortom iedereen heeft het erover. Ik begin me ondertussen al een BQ-er te voelen, durf bijna al niet meer een quiltwinkel binnen te komen uit 'angst' herkend te worden :). Ik ben n.l. helemaal geen type dat graag in de belangstelling staat. Maar ik ben bang dat dat niet meer gaat lukken, dus ik gooi me maar in het diepe.

Volgende week zaterdag 14 Januari ben ik te bewonderen bij 'Het Quiltgebeuren' in Brielle, Janine geeft dan een blogger dag. Dus iedereen die blogt, huisjes maakt en zin heeft is welkom! Kunnen we elkaar eens in het echt zien.

Ook pikken diverse quiltwinkels de rage op, en gaan ook huisjes maken.

- Liesbeth van 'Quiltservice' heeft speciaal voor de gelegenheid mooie scrappakketjes gemaakt. Echt voor een aanbiedingsprijsje en mooi op kleur gesorteerd, dus voor elk wat wils.

- Marina van 'Marina's Quiltcorner' doet ook mee en heeft ook scrappakketjes in de winkel.

- Francoise van 'De Quilterij' organiseert om de vier weken op woensdag een huisjes Bee, beginnend op woensdag 18 Januari, van 09.45-12.15 uur. Ook komen er twee huisjes dagen op zaterdag 17 Maart en 16 Juni, van 10.00-16.00 uur. Ik probeer op de eerste huisjesdag aanwezig te zijn.

Laat het me weten als jullie nog meer leuke initiatieven hebben, dan zet ik ze op dit blog zodat iedereen er profijt van heeft! En nee, ik heb nergens aandelen, ha, ha.

There have already formed a lot of Houses-Club's and Bee's, everyone is talking about it (over here in The Netherlands). I'm starting to feel myself a FQ-er, and don't dare to go in a quiltshop anymore, 'scrared' to get recognized :). It's just I'm not thát type that likes to be in the spotlight. But I'm afraight it's too late, so I'm jumping in.

Next saturday 14 January you can see me at 'Het Quiltgebeuren' where Janine is organizing a blogger day. So everyone who has a blog, is making houses is welcome! So we can meet each other.

Many Dutch quiltshops are picking up this mania too, and start to make houses in their shop.

- Liesbeth from 'Quiltservice' has made some beautiful scrap bags, especially for this occasion.

- Marina from 'Marina's Quiltcorner' is joining too, and has also made scrapbags in her shop.

- Francoise from 'De Quilterij' is organising every four weeks a Houses Bee at wednesday, starting at 18 January, 09.00-12.15 h. There are also two special houses days at saturday 17 March and 16 June, 10.00-16.00h. I try to be there at the first day.

Please let me know if you are organizing something too, I will put the info at this blog, so everyone will know. And no, I don't have stocks, just still do it for free, ha, ha,

Tussenbiesjes & hoekblokjes - Sashings & Corner Stones

Zorgen jullie er wel voor dat jullie voldoende (dezelfde) stof hebben voor de tussenbiesjes en hoekblokjes? Je hebt n.l. best veel stof nodig! Het zou zonde zijn als jullie er halverwege achterkomen dat je niet genoeg hebt... Daarom heb ik voor jullie een berekening gemaakt.

In het patroon van de huisjesquilt, zoals die door mij is getekend, zitten 781 tussenbiesjes en 400 hoekblokjes. Voor één tussenbiesje heb je 3 x 9 cm stof nodig (incl. naad), voor één hoekblokje heb je 3 x 3 cm stof nodig (incl. naad).

Berekening hoeveelheid stof, wanneer je effen stof gebruikt, of een dessin waarbij je niet op patroon knipt.

Tussenbiesjes:
Uit 110 cm stofbreedte haal je 36 tussenbiesjes (110 : 3 = 36).
Als stoflengte heb je dan nodig: 781 : 36 = 22 x 9 = 198 cm stof.
Wil je de binding ook van dezelfde stof maken, dan heb je nog 50 cm extra nodig.

Hoekblokjes:
Uit 110 cm stof haal je 36 hoekblokjes (110 : 3 = 36).
Als stoflengte heb je dan nodig: 400 : 36 = 12 x 3 = 36 cm stof.

Neem voor de zekerheid wat extra stof mocht je verkeerd knippen/snijden.
Knip je je tussenbiesjes/hoekblokjes op patroon, dan heb je méér stof nodig!

Ensure yourself that you have enough (of the same) fabric for the sashings and corner stones. It requires a lot of fabric! It's not nice to find out that you don't have enough... That's why I made a calculation for you.

In the house quilt, as drawn by me in the pattern, there are 781 sashings and 400 corner stones.
For óne sashing you need 3 x 9 cm (1.2 x 3.6 inch) fabric (incl. seam), for óne corner stone you need 3 x 3 cm (1.2 x 1.2 inch) fabric (incl. seam).

Fabric calculation, when you use solid fabric, or a fabric which you don't fussy cut.

Sashings:
A fabric width of 110 cm (44 inch) gives you 36 sashings (110 : 3 = 36) (44 : 1.2 = 36).
As fabric length you need: 781 : 36 = 22 x 9 = 198 cm (80 inch) fabric.
If you wish to make your binding from the same fabric, you need 50 cm (20 inch) more.

Corner Stones:
A fabric width of 110 cm (44 inch) gives you 36 corner stones ( 110 : 3 = 36) (44 : 1.2 = 36).
As fabric length you need: 400 : 36 = 12 x 3 = 36 cm (14.4 inch) fabric.

Be sure to buy some extra fabric.
When you wish to fussy cut your sashings/corner stones you need extra fabric!

De voorbereidingen - The Preparations

Ik ben erg benieuwd hoe het allemaal met jullie gaat. Zijn jullie niet geschrokken van het héle kleine huisjes patroontje? En gaan jullie het met de hand piecen of paper piecen? Twee van mijn quiltvriendinnen, Christel en Anske, gaan de huisjes zelfs op de Engelse manier (omrijgen om papieren malletjes) piecen!

Ik ga met de hand piecen, en ik heb besloten om de quilt te gaan maken in de kleuren van mijn kleine huisjes quilt (dat jullie op de achtergrond van dit blog zien). Ik kan alleen jammer genoeg niet meer genoeg van dezelfde stof voor de sashings vinden, dus mijn sashings worden anders.

I'm very curious how you all doing. Didn't I scare you with that tiny little house pattern? And are you going to piece by hand or machine, or paper piecing? Two of my quilting friends, Christel and Anske, are going to piece the little houses the English way, by using papers.

I'm going to piece by hand, and decided to make my large quilt in the same colours and fabrics as my little house quilt (which you can see in the background of this blog). Unfortunately I can't find enough of the same fabric for the sashings, so my sashings are going to be different.

Ik ben begonnen met het aftekenen van de malletjes op de stof, en heb ontdekt dat precies alle onderdelen van één huisje uit een lapje van 12,5 x 12,5 cm kunnen! Zonder de 'lucht' en het 'raam' dan, want die maak ik altijd van blauw en geel. Maar het is wel handig zo, want nu kan ik die mooie charm lapjes die ik bij haar heb besteld gebruiken voor mijn quilt!

I started marking my templates on the fabrics, and found out that all parts of a little house go exactly out a piece of 5 x 5 inch! Without the 'sky' and 'window', because I'm going to make them blue and yellow. But it's so handy, because now I can use up all my beautifull charm pieces that I've ordered from her!

Alle stukjes knip ik uit en sorteer ik in deze mooie houten doos die ik speciaal daarvoor kocht (bij Action).

I cut out all the pieces and sort them in this beautiful wooden box.

Elk stofje dat ik gebruik plak ik op een kleurkaart, zo kan ik zien of ik een stofje niet dubbel gebruik.

En zo kom ik de kerstdagen wel door, proberen zoveel mogelijk huisjes voor te bereiden vóór 1 Januari.

Het is gelukt! - I did it!

Nou, eigenlijk lukte het eerst niet, we moesten zelfs de helpdesk erbij halen, blijkt dat ik 'maar' naar max. 1000 mensen tegelijk een mail mag sturen. En dan mag ik pas een half uurtje later weer een mail sturen.
Omdat er meer dan 1100 adressen in mijn lijst staan lukte het eerst niet, maar nu is het eerste deel (A t/m L) de deur uit.
Ik krijg al veel reacties terug uit de USA, ja, daar is het nu nog avond, die kunnen al beginnen.

Voor degene bij wie de download niet lukt, je kunt de file openen met Acrobat Reader, dat is hier http://www.adobe.com/ gratis te downloaden.

Nu ga ik mijn pyama aandoen en ga ik naar bed, Dames van de HexaBee ik ben wat later morgen...

Well, at first it didn't worked out, we even had to ask the live chat helpdesk for help. The issue was that I am allowed to send a mail to 'only' max. 1000 people, I didn't knew that. And after half an hour I'm allowed to send another mail.
Because there are over 1100 people on the list it didn't worked, but now the first part (A t/m L) is sent.
I'm getting responce back, mostly from the USA, of course it's evening over there, they can start already.

Ik ben er klaar voor! - I'm ready for it!

Het patroontje is compleet, in vier talen, Nederlands, Engels, Duits en Frans, dus de pret kan bijna beginnen! Er zijn inmiddels al meer dan 1000 quiltsters via mijn mail aangemeld om mee te doen. Ook zie ik net dat er al 250 volgers van dit blog zijn, en er staan al 260 bloggers in de bloglijst (rechts op deze pagina). Nooit gedacht dat dit zo GROOTS zou worden.
Nu maar hopen dat vannacht alles goed gaat met het verzenden van jullie mail met het patroontje. Volgens mijn DH gaat dat gemakkelijk lukken, dus ik vertrouw maar op hem. Maar ik doe al drie nachten bijna geen oog dicht...

In elk geval ga ik morgen het patroontje ook als PDF op dit blog plaatsen, voor alle mensen die na 15 December nog mee willen doen. En voor alle deelnemers die misschien geen mailtje van me ontvangen.

The pattern is completed, in four languages, Dutch, English, German and French, so let the fun (almost) begin. There are already over 1000 quilters registered to join by my mail. Never thought that this would become so BIG.
Hopefully everything will go right tonight, when I'm sending you all the mail with the pattern. But my DH says not to worry, so I'll trust on that. But I'm not sleeping well about this for three nights now...

Anyway, from tomorrow I'll also put the pattern as a PDF file at this blog, for all persons who wish to join after 15 December, and for all those who don't receive a mail back from me.

Opnieuw hulp gevraagd

Wie kan me helpen met het vertalen van de tekst in het patroon? Nederlands en Engels is geen probleem, en met de Duitse vertaling ben ik inmiddels geholpen door Trijnie en Annette.

Ik zoek nog iemand die vandaag (dinsdag) de werkbeschrijving van het patroon voor me wil vertalen van Nederlands naar Frans, het is aardig wat tekst. Misschien één van de Belgische deelneemsters?

Het is inmiddels gelukt met de hulp van Tilly en Nicole, hartelijk dank!

Bloglijst - Bloglist

Het is me gelukt om jullie allemaal in één bloglijst te krijgen. Dus wanneer jullie een nieuw berichtje op je Blog posten, komen jullie direct bovenaan de lijst te staan. Er staan inmiddels 227 quiltsters in de bloglijst, en ik heb al 730 aanmeldingen via de mail binnen gekregen!

Eergisteren kwamen er heel veel mailtjes binnen uit Duitsland. Daar had iemand een berichtje gepost op het quiltforum, dus dat gaf onmiddelijk resultaat.
En gisteren kwamen er opvallend veel mailtjes binnen vanuit Australië en de USA, dat kwam omdat Linda van Quilts in the Barn een berichtje over ons project op haar Blog had geschreven. Ik ben een grote bewonderaar van haar, en vind het keileuk dat Linda ook gaat meedoen!

Er is ook een 'beroemde' blogster uit de USA die zich misschien gaat aanmelden. Ze gaat dit weekend proberen om een huisjes blok op de naaimachine te maken, en als het haar lukt gaat ze ook meedoen.

Mijn DH ziet het allemaal met lede ogen aan... hij heeft sinds 3 maanden ook een Blog en 'slechts' 4 volgers en 1071 pagina views... dus als jullie niets te doen hebben en houden van impressionistische schilderkunst ga dan op bezoek op zijn Blog (klik) of in zijn virtueel Museum (klik).

I managed to put you all in one blog list. So when you post a new story at your Blog, you directly move to the top of the list. There are already 227 quilters in the blog list, and I've received 730 mails from quilters who want to join the club!

The day before yesterday I received a lot of mails from Germany. Over there someone had put a post on the quilt forum, so that gave a huge result in my mailbox.
And yesterday there were striking many mails from Australia and the USA, because Linda from Quilts in the Barn had put a post about our project on her Blog. I'm a great admire of Linda, so I'm very pleased she's going to join too!

There's also a 'famous' blogger from the USA who maybe is going to join us. This weekend she's going to try to 'build' a house block on her sewing machine, and if she manages she'll join us.

My DH is a bit 'jealous', he's a painter and has for 3 months also a Blog with 'only' 4 followers and 1071 page views... so if you have some time leftover and if you like impressionism, please visit his Blog (click) or his virtual Museum (click).

Rare vertaler... - Strange Translator

Ik was net aan het testen of de vertaalfunctie goed werkte, dus zette ik mijn tekst om naar Grieks. Niet dat ik Grieks spreek, maar ik vind het zo'n mooi schrift, en ik krijg er een vakantiegevoel van. Toen ik 'm weer terug op 'Nederlands' zette kreeg ik een hele rare Blogtitel te zien n.l. ' Huizen bouwen van schroot', nou ja, zeg!

Vandaag was het wat rustig met nieuwe aanmeldingen, 'maar' 40 nieuwe deelnemers. Wel leuk dat ik op diverse Blogs en in mails lees over eigen initiatieven, en ook de winkeliers zijn flink in de weer,
- er wordt misschien een nieuwe 'huizen bouw bee opgericht in Best bij Corry van de Quiltsteek
- een lapjes ruildag georganiseerd bij Hanneke van Quiltatelier Vlijtig Liesje
- Françoise van De Quilterij heeft in haar winkel een inschrijflijst liggen voor klanten die niet internetten en toch mee willen doen. Zij bezorgd deze mensen dan het patroon.
- Annemarie van Magdaleentje heeft scrapzakjes in de aanbieding.

Mijn tweede huisjes quiltje (ja, ja, ik heb een kleine kloon gemaakt) is vanaf morgenmiddag te zien bij Dorry, en daar wordt ook driftig gewerkt aan verschillende leuke scrappakketjes speciaal voor de originele huisjes quilt.

Verder ben ik heel benieuwd of jullie al weten van welke stofjes jullie de quilt gaan maken. Ik nog steeds niet, zit zo te twijfelen, gewoon zoals mijn kleintje of Japanse stoffen... zucht, gelukkig hebben we nog tijd om te denken.

Trouwens ik krijg heeeel veel dubbele mails binnen, sommigen zijn bang dat ik ze vergeet op de lijst te zetten. Dat is niet zo, maar ik stuur gewoon geen mailtje naar jullie terug, dat mailtje krijgen jullie de 15e samen met het patroontje. Hoop dat dat gaat lukken, ik prop jullie allemaal in mijn adressenboek en stuur dan hopelijk met één druk op de knop de mail door...

I was testing if the Translator button worked well, so I put my Blog text in Greek. Not that I speak Greek, but I think it's such a beautiful script, and it gives me a holiday feeling. When I put the text back to 'Dutch' I saw a very strange thing happening in my Blogtitle, it said 'Building houses from Scrap-iron'...

Today it was a bit quit in my mailbox, 'only' 40 new members. It's nice to read in your mails and at your Blogs of all your own initiatives, and the Dutch shop owners are also very busy:
- Maybe there's gonna be a special Building houses Bee at Corry from De Quiltsteek.
- There's a scrap trading organized by Hanneke from Quiltatelier Vlijtig Liesje.
- Françoise from De Quilterij has put a list in her shop where people, who never internet, can sign in. She takes care that the pattern will arrive to them.
- Annemarie from 'Magdaleentje' has put scrapbags in her webshop.

You can see my second small houses quilt (yes, I made a clone) from tomorrow afternoon at Dorry, where there gonna be original 'Building Houses Scrapbags' soon.

I'm very curious if you already know from which fabrics you're gonna make your quilt. I'm still hesitating, the same as my small quilt, or Japanes fabrics... lucky we have some time to think over.

By the way, I get very many double e-mails (even tripple), some of you are very scarred that I forget to put you on the list. Not at all, but I just don't sent you a mail back, that mail will come on the 15th together with the pattern. Vraagje - Question

Ik wil heel graag een vertaal 'programma' aan dit Blog toevoegen, maar als ik bij mijn 'gadgets' kijk heb ik geen keuze. De Blogger translator is op het moment niet te installeren omdat er te veel fouten inziten, en voor een ander vertaal programma dat men aanbiedt moet ik betalen.
Weet iemand van jullie een gratis oplossing? Het is inmiddels gelukt, dank jullie wel! Nu kan iedereen meelezen in zijn/haar eigen taal. De vertaalfunctie zit linksboven in de balk.

I want to add a translator 'programme' to this Blog, but when I try to add a translate 'gadget' I have no choice. It isn't possible to add the Blogger translator at the moment because there were too many faults in the programme, and for another one I have to pay.
Does anyone of you has a free solution? I fixed it thanks to your help, thank you all! Now everyone can read this in his/her own language. The translator function is on top at the left.

... die al gaan meedoen! Leuk he? En wat zijn jullie allemaal enthousiast!

Heel veel mensen vragen hoe de button (= het kleine huisjes blok dat je rechts op deze pagina ziet, ook wel 'Application' genoemd) 'aanklikbaar' op hun Blog te plaatsen. Voor degenen die een Blog bij Blogger hebben werkt het als volgt:

- de foto van het quiltblokje (button) gewoon van mijn Blog 'afslepen' en kopieëren naar jouw computer, het is gewoon een JPG bestand.

- daarna moet je inloggen op je eigen blog, dan op 'Ontwerp' klikken (rechtsboven in de Blogger balk),

- je komt dan in een veld waarop je je Blog kunt bewerken. Klik dan op 'een gadget toevoegen' (op de plaats waar jij de button wilt),

- je komt dan in een nieuw veld waar je kunt kiezen wat je wilt toevoegen, klik op 'Afbeelding'

- je komt dan in een nieuw veld en kunt een titel ingeven b.v. Building Houses from Scraps',

een bijschrift, een link (kopieer hierin het blogadres van mijn blog, dus buildinghousesfromscraps.blogspot.com),

upload dan de button (de foto van mijn huisjesblok dat je eerder op jouw computer hebt gezet) en klik op 'opslaan'

Ik hoop dat het zo lukt, als het goed is wel, en als je dan op de button klikt op jouw Blog, kom je vanzelf bij dit Blog!

Many people ask me how to put the button (= the small house block that you can see at the right side of this page, also called 'Application') 'clickable' at their Blog. For those who have a Blog at Blogger it works like this:

- copy the little picture (button) of the quilt block to your computer, it's just a JPG file.

- log in to your own Blog, and click at 'Design' (right at the top of the page, in the Blogger strip).

- Now you get a new field where you can design your Blog. Click on 'add a gadget' (at the place you wish to put your button).

- You get a new field where you can choose what to add, click on 'Picture or Photo'.

- You get another field where you can type a title, for instance 'Building Houses from Scraps', a link (copy the blog adress of this Blog in here, so buildinghousesfromscraps.blogspot.com), then upload the button (the picture of the house block that you've just copied to your computer) and click on 'save'.

I hope it will work out, don't know if all the English terms are right, because I'm working in the Dutch version of Blogger. But if it's OK, and you click on the button at your Blog, you'll arrive at this Blog!

Huisjes van Hubertine

Vandaag weer meer dan 100 aanmeldingen binnengekomen via de e-mail. Het virus verspreidt zich supersnel over heel de wereld, Australië, United States, Zuid-Afrika, België, Zwitserland, Duitsland, Oostenrijk, Frankrijk, Italië, en natuurlijk een heleboel aanmeldingen uit Nederland.
Elke avond na het avondeten verwerk ik alle aanmeldingen, dus dan komen jullie Blogs pas in zicht in de lijst rechts. Trouwens, de tweede blog lijst zit ook alweer vol, dus op naar de derde (raar eigenlijk dat ik maar 59 bloggers in zo'n lijst kan zetten... )
Het kan natuurlijk altijd voorkomen dat ik er eentje mis, dus als je jezelf niet in één van de lijsten ziet, laat het me dan weten. Ik ben n.l. een hele slechte secretaresse, maar ik doe m'n best.

Er zijn ook heel veel lieve mensen die aanbieden te helpen, alvast bedankt hiervoor, ik laat jullie weten als het nodig is.

Ook kreeg ik een leuke mail van Kerstin uit Duitsland. Ze stuurde me een foto van haar kleine huisjes quilt die ze twee jaar geleden maakte, zó mooi en inspirerend. Daarom laat ik 'm graag aan jullie zien hieronder. Kerstin gaat ook mee bouwen aan een grote quilt.

Zo, nu lekker op de bank, verder met mijn 'Trick or Treat' - mandjes quilt. Want eigenlijk wil ik de top in elkaar hebben vóór het nieuwe jaar.

Today again over 100 e-mails in my box! The virus spreads very quickly around the world, Australia, United States, South Afrika, Belgium, Switserland, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, and of course many quilters from The Netherlands wish to join.
Every evening after dinner I read all the mails, and then I put your Blogs in the list at the right. The second list is also full, so on to the third (strange that I can only put 59 bloggers in a list...)
It can happen that I miss one, so if you don't see your Blog in one of the lists, please let me know. I'm not a very good secretary, but I'm trying.

Huisjes van Kerstin - Houses from Kertsin

Wát zijn er al veel aanmeldingen binnengekomen! De teller staat nu al op 190 enthousiaste quiltsters die gaan meedoen. Ik zou heel graag ál jullie mailtjes persoonlijk beantwoorden, maar dat kost me echt teveel tijd. Dus doe ik het nu maar even zo.

Iedereen die me gemaild heeft is ingeschreven, wie me een Blog adres gaf staat rechts op deze pagina in de lijst. Ik heb zelfs al een tweede lijst moeten aanmaken omdat de eerste (na 59 bloggers) vol zat. Zie je jezelf niet staan, scroll dan verder naar onder.

Velen vroegen of er kosten aan verbonden zijn. Nee, er zijn geen kosten, alleen dan van ál die stofjes die jullie straks nog gaan kopen...

Zo ook een aantal vragen over het patroontje. Jullie krijgen van mij straks alleen de lijntekening van het huisje en de sashings op het juiste formaat, en een totaaloverzicht van de quilt (met 366 huisjes). Jullie mogen dan zelf de malletjes maken om het quiltje te kunnen maken.
Het is géén paperpiece patroontje, al kunnen jullie er dat zelf wel gemakkelijk van maken.
Ik ga ervan uit dat jullie allemaal ervaren genoeg zijn om dit voor elkaar te krijgen.

Ook werd mij gevraagd naar tips om er geen rommeltje van te maken. Tja, ik zou zeggen gewoon uitproberen. Probeer er rust in te brengen, ik heb b.v. in mijn kleine quiltje de 'lucht' steeds blauw gemaakt en het 'raam' geel.

En als laatste, ondanks vele smeekbeden, het patroontje komt écht pas op 15 December naar jullie toe.

Many asked if they have to pay for the pattern. No, there aren't any costs, only for all those fabrics you're going to buy for it...

There were also some questions about the pattern. I will only give you a line drawing of the house block with the sashings at the right size, and a drawing of the total quilt (with 366 houses). You can make the templates for the quilt yourself.
It's no paperpiece pattern, but you can easy make one of it.
I believe we all have enough experience to do this.

Also they asked me some tips to avoid making a 'messy' quilt. Well, I would say, just try out. Try to keep some rest in it, In my small quilt I made all 'skies' blue and all 'windows' yellow.

And despite all pleases, I will send you the pattern on the 15th of December, not earlier.

De regels - The Rules

Allereerst wil ik jullie het volgende zeggen... er zijn geen vaste regels, enkel richtlijnen, verder geen verplichtingen. Iedereen mag meedoen, en iedereen mag een quilt maken naar haar/zijn eigen smaak en formaat. Het enige vaste gegeven is het quiltblok dat we gaan gebruiken, een huisje.

Het plan is te proberen elke dag een huisje te maken, om zo aan het eind van het jaar 2012 in totaal 366 huisjes klaar te hebben. Deze blokken ga ik verwerken tot een quilt die ongeveer 150 x 200 cm gaat worden, met een rand erom misschien nog wat groter. De quilt wordt voor mijn dochter Rikki, ze is nu al helemaal verliefd op het huisjes poppenquiltje, dus ze wil straks heel graag onder zo'n grote huisjes quilt liggen.
Het huisjesblok heeft als afgewerkt formaat 7,5 x 7,5 cm, dit is érg klein, maar ik hou ervan om klein te werken. Is het blok te klein voor u dan bent u vrij het te vergroten, is het aantal van 366 teveel voor u dan bent u vrij er minder te maken.Tussen de huisjes komen biesjes (sashings), van 1,5 x 7,5 cm. U bent vrij om de sashings breder/groter te maken, of de huisjes blokken anders te verwerken (met andere blokken ertussen). Zolang het maar een huisjes quilt blijft!

Richtlijnen:

Iedereen mag meedoen, officieel aanmelden gaat via mijn e-mail: mail@jeanneke.com, de inschrijftermijn eindigt op 31 December 2011 24.00 uur.
Vermeld bij uw aanmelding uw Blog adres, dan neem ik deze op in de deelnemerslijst rechts op deze pagina.
Mensen die geen blog hebben mogen gewoon meedoen, wil iemand tussentijds een foto van haar/zijn huisjes laten zien dan stuurt u een foto met begeleidend tekstje naar mij, ik zet het berichtje dan op dit Blog.
Als deelnemer mag u de button met het huisje, rechtsboven op deze pagina, op uw Blog plaatsen.
Het project gaat officieel op 1 Januari 2012 van start en loopt tot het eind van het jaar. Iedereen laat op haar/zijn Blog de vorderingen zien. U bent niet verplicht elke week iets te laten zien.
Het patroon van het huisje wordt door mij per mail als PDF bestand verstrekt vanaf 15 December 2011, zodat u voor het begin van het nieuwe jaar kunt opstarten.

First of all I want to tell you this... there are no rules, only guidelines, no further obligations. Everybody is allowed to join the project, and everyone can make a quilt in it's own colours/style and size. The only fixed point is the block we're going to use, a house.

The plan is to try to make a house each day, and finish 366 houses at the end of the year 2012. I'm going to make a big quilt of it, sized about 60 x 80 inch, with a border around it even bigger. I'm making the quilt for my daughter Rikki, she fell in love with the little house doll quilt, and dreams about sleeping under a large houses quilt.
The house block has a finished size of 3 x 3 inch, this is very small, but I like to work small. Is the block size too small for you, you are allowed to make it bigger, are 366 blocks too many for you, you may make less.
Between the houses there are sashing, sized 3 x 0.6 inch. You are free to make the sashings bigger/larger or to use other blocks in between your houses. As long as in stays a house quilt!

Guidelines:

Everyone is allowed to join, to make it official send a mail to mail@jeanneke.com, the registration dat ends at 31 December 2011 24.00 h.
Please state in your mail your Blog adres (link), so I can put you in the Blog list at the right side of this Blog.
Quilters who don't have a Blog can also join. If you wish to show a picture of your houses, just sent it in a e-mail to me together with a small text, I will put it at this Blog for you.
As a member you are allowed to put the button, the one with the small house at the right side top of this page, at your Blog.
The project starts official at 1 January 2012, and ends at the end of the year. Everyone can show at their Blog what they are making. You're not required to show something every week, just as many times as you like.

Hoe het begon - How it started

Het begon allemaal met een berichtje op mijn Blog over een poppenquiltje. Een huisjesquilt met héle kleine huisjes, gemaakt van allemaal verschillende restjes reproduktie stof. Het was zo gezellig om te maken dat het jammer was toen het klaar was.
Dus kwam het plan bij me op om een GROTE huisjesquilt te gaan maken, met wel 366 huisjes, voor elke dag van het jaar 2012 een huisje! Maar om zo'n quilt nu alleen te gaan maken...

Waarom niet samen? Dus deed ik een oproep aan alle quilters om mee te doen. Ieder maakt haar/zijn eigen quilt, uitgaande van hetzelfde blok, maar in haar/zijn eigen kleuren en stoffen. Ik was verbaasd over de hoeveelheid reacties. Heel veel mensen willen meedoen, daarom besloot ik dit Blog op te richten zodat we de krachten kunnen bundelen.

It all started with a message on my Blog about a little doll quilt. A quilt with véry tiny houses, made of a lot of different scraps. I enjoyed making it so much that I was sad it was finished.
So the idea came to me to make a HUGE quilt with a lot of houses, 366 houses, one for each day of the year 2012. But to make such a quilt on my own...

Why not do it together? So I called up all quilters to join. Everybody makes her/his own quilt, using the same house block, in it's own colours and fabrics. I was overwhelmed about the amount of comment. Many quilters like to join, that's why I decided to set up this Blog so we can see who's joining.
